Let’s PLANT!
Flower and
vegetable plants
are ready to
fill your
garden. We
have the first
tomato plants of
the season with
more varieties
to follow.
Don’t forget to
get your first
crop of broccoli
and lettuce
plants in the
ground; we will
have an
assortment of
lettuce plants
to choose from.
Also we
will have an
array of herbs,
such as parsley,
mint, rosemary,
and cilantro.
To make sure we
have enough
plant
inventories in
the Fenway Farm
Stand, we have
come up with the
idea of having
gardeners
preorder their
plants. On
Mondays,
Tuesdays, and
Wednesdays, we
are taking
orders for both
vegetable and
flowers for the
upcoming
weekend.
This way we will
definitely have what
you’re planting
that week
available. We
will have it in
a box and ready
for you to take
it to your
garden. We will
also have a
variety of
plants on hand
if you did not
preorder, or if
you decide to
purchase other
plants. An
order form will
be available at
the farm stand
or if you are
unable to come
in, please send
us an email of
your order.
Late May, we
should start to
harvest
certain native
produce. Weather
permitting, we
should have some
local lettuce,
broccoli and
asparagus with
native
strawberries
right around the
corner!
The farm stand
is still
bringing in new
products that
the Fenway
community has
been asking for.
But we are far
from done, so
please don’t
hesitate to
offer up new
ideas!

New Products
We are always
thrilled to be
able to carry
fresh, great
tasting foods
from local
business, and
this month we
are excited to
feature two of
them:
Samira’s
Homemade out
of Belmont, MA
is a small
family business
that say’s they
“cook for our
customers as
we're cooking
for our family”.
They started
making Lebanese
and Egyptian
dips at the
request of
friends and, by
meeting and
exceeding their
customers' needs
with their
healthy and
fresh food,
their business
has grown
through
reputation and
word of mouth.
We carry a full
line of their
products
including Ful
Medammes, Hummus
(Original,
Roasted Red
Pepper Hummus,
Kalamata Olive
Hummus, and
Hummus
w/Jalapeno),
Baba Gannough,
and Pita Bread.
Please check out
their website at
www.samirashomemade.com.
batch,
out of Jamaica
Plain, MA is a
brand new (only
a few months
old!!) company
that makes
AMAZING ice
cream! They use
ingredients that
are local, Fair
Trade and
organic (where
they can). They
make their ice
cream fully from
scratch and free
of artificial
flavors,
artificial
colors, and
stabilizers.
That means you
can expect to
have a smooth,
fantastic
tasting ice
cream. They are
going to be here
on Sample
Saturday this
week so don’t
miss out! Check
out their
website at
www.batchicecream.com.
Here are some
other new,
exciting
products:
We are happy to
finally be
carrying peanut
butter! Once
Again Nut Butter,
out of NY, is
dedicated to
supporting
organic and
sustainable
farming
practices and
provides the
natural products
industry with a
tasty, healthy,
and nutritious
peanut butter.
We are currently
carrying organic
peanut butter as
well as
sunflower seed
nut butter. We
hope to expand
the line to
other nut
butters as
well! Check out
their website at
www.onceagainnutbutter.com.
You may be
saying, another
brand of pita
chip? Why?
Because Bobby
O’s garlic
flavored pita
chips (out of
Salem, NH)
are fantastic!!
The taste is
just magnificent
and they are
always fresh.
Although they
only come in the
one flavor
(garlic), this
is one chip that
you will become
addicted to!
And finally,
don’t forget
that we are
carrying
Hardwick Grass
Fed Beef! Hardwick
Beef provides
the very best
beef from
animals that are
raised on grass,
without any
antibiotics or
added hormones.
Since there is
an increasing
demand for safe
and healthy
food, we are
pleased to carry
this line.
Cape Ann Fresh
Catch
The Cape Ann
Fresh Catch (CAFC)
Community
Supported
Fishery (CSF)
works together
with local
fishermen along
with shore-side
operations and
delivers fresh
seafood to their
members. Members
join the program
by purchasing a
share for a
season. Each
week at a
designated
delivery site,
CAFC members
pick up their
shares of fresh
seafood. They
are just like a
CSA but with
seafood—a CSF.
A number of
people have
expressed an
interest in this
program. CAFC
would like to
begin to bring
fresh fish to
the Fenway farm
stand in June.
We still need
more people to
sign up so we
can bring in
fresh fish to go
with your fresh
produce. Check
out their
website at www.capeannfreshcatch.org.
Meet the Staff
I
would like to
introduce
Marshall’s
Fenway Farm
Stand Manager,
Lisa Dionne. She
has been with us
since we opened
and has proven
herself to be a
great asset to
the business!
Lisa assists
with the
day-to-day
operations, but
most of her work
is done behind
the scenes. She
works at
bringing in
new products
that you, the
customers, have
been asking for.
She is by far
the hardest
worker that I
have ever been
around!
If you haven’t
met her yet,
stop cheating
yourself and
make sure you
introduce
yourself to her.
Her people
skills are off
the charts; she
is perfect for
our Farm
Stand. With the
Gloucester Farm
opening the end
of this month, I
will split my
time between
both locations
and will lean on
Lisa even more!
I couldn’t have
hand-picked a
better person to
be my eyes and
ears in Boston.
She is more than
an employee,
she’s my right
arm!
