ABOUT THE FENWAY
GARDEN SOCIETY
 The
Fenway Victory Gardens are self-governed by an incorporated,
non-profit membership organization known as the Fenway Garden
Society, Inc. (FGS). Membership in the FGS, along with being
a Boston resident and accepting the
Guidelines
and Regulations for the Victory Gardens, is a prerequisite
to gardening in the Victory Gardens. The FGS represents the
gardeners in all dealings with third parties.
FGS members elect an Executive Board along
with Area Directors for each of the park sections. General
Membership meetings and periodic newsletters provide opportunities
for participating in the decision-making process and keeping
abreast of developments.
FGS MEMBERSHIP
Application
When you accept membership in the Fenway Garden Society,
Inc., you become one of the beneficiaries of a long and honored
tradition: one that thousands of Boston gardeners who came
before us worked hard to establish and preserve. They left
a legacy of public good will and civic cooperation that
you must be willing to enhance and protect for future generations
of “Fenway
victory gardeners.” Boston residents only
which include: Boston Proper; Allston; Brighton;
Charlestown; Dorchester; Hyde Park; Jamaica Plain; Mattapan;
Mission Hill; Roslindale; Roxbury; and West Roxbury may
download and
send in an application.
While not required, we
like to encourage all applicants to
Join Friends of the Fenway Garden Society as well.

MEMBERSHIP HAS ITS
PRIVILEGES
Members each receive a FGS membership card at the beginning
of the year to use as identification in the gardens and
when taking advantage of special member discounts. The members
of FGS also take part in annual elections of the FGS Executive
Board and the Area Directors for each of the park sections.
General Membership meetings are held every May and December
providing opportunities for participating in the decision-making
process and keeping abreast of developments. If you are
a gardener in good standing, after one year you may submit
an application for a second plot.
RENEWING YOUR MEMBERSHIP
Gardening privileges and plot assignments are not transferable
and must be renewed each year. A membership renewal application
will be sent to you early in the year. If it is returned as
“address unknown” or “no forwarding address,”
an attempt will be made to reach you by telephone. If unsuccessful,
and we have no further information in writing, you will miss
the renewal deadline, and the plot will be reassigned to a
new gardener in early spring.
COMMUNICATING A
CHANGE OF ADDRESS
For the above reasons, it is imperative that you communicate
a new address to the FGS if you should move. You may send
an e-mail to the membership officer online by clicking the
contact link on home page’s top navigation.
THE 2010 EXECUTIVE
BOARD
Board elections are held at the December General Meeting
of FGS members. Nominations are to be sent to the nominating
committee prior to the December meeting by calling (617)
267-6650 to ensure that all members have a fair opportunity
to run for office. Nominations may also be made from the
floor.
